Was planning to buy a Samsung 4k tv on boxing day when Best Buy employee said we wouldn't go wrong with this one instead. At the price, was said to be the best value for money. After a 3 week wait period to get the tv, I was very underwhelmed by the black levels. It is almost unwatchable to try and view any content which is set at night or in a shadowy scape. All blacks and dark colors are indistinguishable from each other, no definition in the blacks. I had the impression all Best Buy employees were told to push this tv as it was underperforming. There is no fix I have found for this problem. I implore you to look elsewhere for a tv in the same price range
- Slow Interface. Plex Non-functionalby John

I bought this and a Samsung UN65NU8000FXZC to compare. The only thing going for this Sony is its software motion rate of "960". Yes, you can see a little bit more detail during HEAVY action scenes, but that's the end. The interface is a Android TV, albeit it was my first experience with it - but yikes! SLOW - I mean seconds before something is highlighted. Sony rep at Best Buy contributed this to the LAN & WiFi available at the showroom. This is not the case. Disable WiFi and/or pull the network cable from the unit and it's the same. Plug in an external hard drive DIRECTLY with a several hundred movies - it will take minutes to index up to a certain count. It stopped indexing at about 400 and didn't display the full 700 I had on the drive. Plex - most of my library is 1080p MKV with a couple AVIs. The Plex application downloaded from Google Play will not play a file without displaying "Your connection to the server is not fast enough to stream this video ..". This is a gigabit network with an i7, 12gb ram, SSD server. TV is supposed to support many video formats, including MKV. Google around and you will see many threads with this same error. My 4 year old Samsung 6000 series doesn't even buffer over our gigabit network on a 16GB file. No transcode needed as all the files are standardized. Also, the Samsung I mentioned earlier that I bought at the same time, didn't buffer with a 22GB h.265 video. Finally, I downloaded Kodi on the Sony and installed the Plex add-on. Same result.

The local Best Buy employee and Sony staff were very helpful. This TV is perfect for me and easy to use. The Best Buy geek install team set it up and showed me how to work it. I have it conncted to an audio system because I needed better sound. Its a very good TV for the price.
